The Zombie Apocalypse

This started as a typical morning.  I got up, got the kids off to school and had a little breakfast before I sat down with my laptop to get some work done. As I was checking my emails on this beautiful, clear New Hampshire day, the power went out.  Poof!  And because I’m a Geek my first thought was “Skynet or Zombies?”  Since my laptop was still happily humming away and had not turned on me, I decided Zombie Apocalypse.  The eerie silence of my home settled around me and I tweeted my assessment of the situation.  Within minutes, no seconds, I received answering tweets to make sure I was properly prepared.  Old LPs, flamethrowers, cricket bats, shotguns, sunglasses. Twinkies and possibly a phone call to Will Smith because, duh, he’s Will Smith were all required items.  I mentally scanned my supplies, found I had more of those items on hand than you might think, and then the power came back. Dang, I was so ready to break out that flamethrower, but when the time comes I am good to go.  What about you?

My best friend and I both have a backpack in our closets with first aid, provisions, flashlights, and small travel sized things specifically for a Zombie Apocalypse. We did it first as a joke, but I'm sorta still glad I'd be a little ready if I needed to be. No flamethrower though. Damn.

  2. Well, personal hygiene and flashlights are important, but you need to consider weaponry. You must have a baseball bat somewhere that you could press into service?

Sounds a lot like my morning! We were watching tv while eating breakfast before starting school when it all went out. I was on the netbook, which continued to work but without the wifi connection, internet was no good.

So I suggested we move on to school. Lucas suggested that as long as the netbook worked, we play Plants vs. Zombies.

"What!? You said it didn't use the internet!"

"Umm.. school doesn't require internet or electricity.."

I won. What?? Education is important for when the Zombies come!! And Lucas already made sure we bought cabbage the other day for weaponry. (NOT KIDDING!)

  4. Lucas is just the coolest kid! I can just imagine that he'd fight off the zombie hordes…with a scratch built weapon of some kind 🙂

While flame throwers are fun they aren't that great when it comes to zombies, because zombies feel no pain they will still shamble towards you and now they'll be on fire. They will eventually die, but not before potentially setting fire to your assets.
