VIDEO: Honda HR-V Selfie Edition? Happy April Fools’ Day!

April Fool’s Day has become not just a day when we prank each other, but a day when companies prank us, too. There isn’t a soul out there who hasn’t done a momentary double-take at a headline debuting a ridiculous product. Unicorn meat? Voltron cat condo? Oh, that’s right it’s April 1st. This year, the Honda HR-V Selfie Edition joins the list of implausible products and I can’t stop laughing.

The Honda HR-V is an all-new crossover and it’s very real. It’s just this particular special edition that doesn’t exist. They made a video debuting the model and even have a mock page on their site all about the amazing HR-V SLF.

It comes with 10 cameras that are all pointing at the driver so you can take a selfie anytime. The inside has so many it will make you feel like you’re under surveillance, or possible that you’ve wandered into the world of the Kardashians and your every move is now out there for public consumption.

The idea is brilliant and ridiculous, and I would bet money that there were more than a few people who saw this one and were ready to give it a test drive. Alas, this is just a figment of Honda’s imagination and our fixation with selfies.

Or maybe, just maybe, this is all a secret test to feel out the public’s response. Could a visor-mounted selfie cam be the next big thing? Watch the video and you decide.
